Perhaps you noticed my conspicuous absence from your inbox since you started screwing up the date and still writing “2019” when you meant “2020”.
Rest assured, it wasn’t because I was kidnapped.
It also wasn’t because I took a month off.
No, friends, it was because I had way too much to do. And since most of the work I’ve done is going to wind up being for your benefit – I figured you wouldn’t mind too much.
“But wait, what were you doing?!”
I hear you ask from across the internet…
Well, how about I just come right out and tell you?
I’m Quitting Video Courses
I’ve had this thought for many, many months now. While making C# Implementation with Wwise and Unity was super fun, super beneficial for me as a business owner, and it’s helped a ton of you…
I’m never building anything like it again.
I will probably sell it at least once more – but I can assure you that said product will cease to exist by the end of 2020.
Why?
Well, because it’s not good enough.
“What do you mean it’s not good enough, Adam?! It’s a great course that you can learn all about how to hook up Wwise events in Unity and I can learn all of it at my own pace. You get paid and don’t even have to be there!”
Good imaginary question, friend – great question.
It’s not good enough because I know that I can provide you something better. I know I can give you better quality teaching, more intimately, more focused on your own exact individual specific interests, needs, and questions.
So, I’m going to do that from here on out.
Starting this year, I’ll be moving to live courses – meaning you’ll be working directly with me, live, daily, in real time.
Announcing: WAAPI Live
The first one of these live courses I’ll be doing with you I’m calling WAAPI Live.
Back in 2016, I was still looking to find my specific unique foothold in audio for games and was offered early access to a new feature for Wwise 2017 called the Wwise Authoring API. I knew immediately that it would be game changing, and most audio directors had no idea how useful it could be.
Plenty still don’t – and even more people have no idea how to use it.
But, I know you’re smart, and I know that you understand the potential of automating the creation of any object in Wwise, generating soundbanks on a schedule, colorizing and organizing your project programmatically, etc. Right???
If it’s a menial task – it’s great to let robots you build do it for you.
Assuming you know even a little bit of C# basics – I can get you up to speed with WAAPI pretty quickly.
WAAPI Live will be a 1-2 month intensive and include:
- 5 days per-week of reading content and tasks, intentionally broken into bite-sized chunks you can accomplish while living/working/going to school
- Scheduled group video chat(s) where I can answer your questions directly
- An online group discussion where you can get your questions and issues answered by me or other students
And you’ll learn:
- How to use source control like a pro – with both desktop GUIs and the command line/terminal
- What the hell “JSON” is and means
- How to use WAMP – the Web Application Messaging Protocol
- How to get the Wwise Authoring Tool to do nearly anything you want programmatically, including auto-building events, soundbanks, heirarchies, generating soundbanks, and running the profiler
- How to build your very own small project from conception to completion
So you’re aware – initially – I don’t plan on accepting any more than 5 students at a time.
I want to see you succeed, and that requires a good chunk of my time and energy, so I’ll be keeping it extremely small.
While I don’t have a price point to give you today, I’m expecting this to be the most expensive offering I’ve produced to date. I say this because of the effort I’m putting in for you to be able to walk away and:
- Fully know how to automate the Wwise Authoring Tool, and for it to do your bidding
- Appear as a wizard to your audio co-workers and provide them with small tools to make their lives easier
- For your programming vocabulary to grow and you to be able to engage your team of programmers without sounding like that audio dumb-dumb who is super scared of code
Again – I only expect you to have basic C# knowledge (Understand “if statements”, “for loops”, “classes”, etc.) – and I’ll bring you the rest of the way.
If you’re interested, you need to jump on the waiting list here.
For the Rest of 2020
WAAPI Live will be just the beginning for me this year.
I’ll be jumping back into building audio plugins, which you should see on sale in the middle of this year.
You’ll also see some workflow tool kits for some of your favorite audio software to make your lives faster and easier.
And, of course, there’s always the potential for more live courses – I’m eyeing a Reascript one and re-building C# Implementation with Wwise and Unity to run live as well.
And now is a very good time for you to reply back to this and tell me what you need to learn the most. As always, I’ll be happy to help as I can.
